November 21, 2020

TED NewsDesk, New Delhi: The Union Education Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ addressed various topics and issues related to Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) Programme on Friday. The Education Minister chaired the online meeting organised to examine the development of the UBA scheme.

The scheme works to expand feasible development by training the higher educational hubs to analyse problems and focus on their remedies along with those living in rural areas.

Prof. Vijay conveyed the achievements witnessed under UBA to date. He outlined that the scheme covers a nexus of 2600 active institutions having more than 14000 villages. The website of UBA holds reports of both 4650 village-level survey and 475702 household-based surveys, claimed the Professor.

As per a statement, Mr Pokhriyal emphasised upon the significant role of UBA in stimulating schools teachers concerning National Education Policy 2020. He listed a website as the requirement to enable various institutions to exchange their experiences as a token of motivation. He recommended to examine each state and fix targets relating to the criterion under UBA like improvement in healthcare, education and so on.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi developed under UBA thus grabbing the Minister’s attention who lauded it for the same. Talking about the positive aspects of the scheme, he stated that it facilitates the higher educational institutions to interact with the villages and society which further imparts traditional wisdom and practical knowledge to both the faculty and the students.

” The scheme also aims to identify innovative technologies, devise implementation methods and enable customisation of technologies for the betterment of people,” Mr Pokhriyal said.

The Minister insisted the involved institutions work on the issues after analysing 3-5 of them that are significant as well as common among the villages. He also directed to look for problems depending on local situations and work towards their remedies. He further highlighted upon increasing the count of higher education institutions (HEIs) under UBA for maximum villages to benefit.

“Chaired a meeting with different stakeholders to review the progress of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Scheme (UBA) today. I appreciate the work being coordinated by IIT Delhi under UBA. Under the scheme, HEIs in India are connecting with society and getting practical knowledge and traditional wisdom,” the Education Minister tweeted.

Many officials were a part of the conference including Mr Amit Khare, Secretary of Higher Education; Dr Vijay Bhatkar, Chairman, National Steering Committee, UBA; Chairman, National Subject Expert Group Advisory Committee, UBA, Dr R Chidambaram; Director, IIT Delhi, Professor Ram Gopal Rao; and National Coordinator, UBA, Professor VK Vijay.
