TED NewsDesk, Madhya Pradesh: The Jabalpur based Rani Durgavati University has provided complete fee waivers to visually-impaired students. Dipesh Mishra, the Registrar in-charge of the University, informed about the same on Tuesday.

“The decision will benefit some 200 such students who are studying in private and government colleges affiliated to the University and those studying in university teaching departments. They will get an exemption from fees charged under heads like registration, skill development, cultural and sports,” he said.

The districts of Jabalpur, Katni, Mandla, Dindori and Narsinghpur are a part of the University.

According to Arun Shukla, a Professor in the Government Mahakaushal Arts and Commerce College Jabalpur, his college was first to offer fee waivers to visually-impaired students in 2005. The college since then uses college funds to pay the fee of these students.

Mishra added that they have not charged the examination fee of the visually-impaired students in the past as well. Such a gesture will provide great help to the students, especially during the Coronavirus pandemic when many people are facing financial difficulties, it is only fair to give them some economic relaxation.
