MES Introduces a Web Radio, Calls it ‘MES Subodhwani’

TED NewsDesk, Pune: To mark the auspicious event of Republic Day, the Sou Vimalabai Garware School launched a web radio, in collaboration with Vidnyan Bharati. According to the president of the school committee of Maharashtra Education Society Anandi Patil, Air Marshal (Rtd) Bhushan Gokhale inaugurated ‘MES Subodhwani’.

Through MES Subodhwani, the students can utilise entrepreneurship and creativity to acquaint themselves with the existing ways of education. The web radio technology will facilitate the live broadcast of this radio station, thus enabling people to attend the sessions via the internet. MES rented a server from Australia based company to telecast programmes.

Outlining features of the programmes presented on the radio station, Sudhir Gade, Deputy Secretary of MES, said that the programmes focus on shaping an independent future for the students. Besides, it aims at removing the existing rote learning methods called ‘Ghoka and Oka’. As a result, Garware College will develop and showcase an innovative programme for one hour, thrice a week. However, on its completion of six months, the committee will survey to analyse the progress. “We will focus on giving the academic and scientific content as well,” said Vilas Rabade.

The original, innovative and inspiring content of the programme would help the students of classes 5 to 10. Presently, they are showing Pilot episodes.

Patil appreciated Vidnyan Bharati for extending her support. Other people at the launch included Vilas Rabde, R. V. Kulkarni of Vidnyan Bharati.
