TED NewsDesk, Maharashtra: Post declaration of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) results in July, the Maharashtra Education Board revised the closing date to apply for the qualification certificate.

The new deadline set by the Maharashtra State Board for SSC and HSC is of December 15, 2020. Candidates need to apply by the due date to receive their license of eligibility, as per the notification released by the board recently. Previously, the deadline was October 15. However, the board decided to increase the deadline owing to the lockdown amid COVID-19 outbreak.

“With the Covid-19 crisis and the resultant lockdown, students are likely to have difficulties in procuring the certificates from their previous academic institutes. In light of this, an extension will be given for applications. Similarly, educational institutes have been asked to ensure that all such students get their certificates in time,” the circular marked.

The admissibility certification is quite similar to the migration certificate which a candidate receives from his/her educational institution when he/she switches board after 10th or 12th. Those seeking admission outside their home state or even abroad need to have this authorisation from the board before attending their new colleges.

A Mumbai divisional board stated, “This year since results came in late, students had very little time to procure their eligibility certificates. We ensured that all such requests were processed from our end early. The board has handled hundreds of such queries over the last few days.”

To avoid overcrowding and rush amid Coronavirus, the board facilitated students with the provision of online application for the eligibility certificates. With many areas still under containment zones, the step of Maharashtra Education Board both to extend the deadline by two months and digitise the process of application is observable.
