The University of Minnesota’s Twin Cities campus, founded in 1851 near Saint Anthony Falls on the Mississippi River, is the flagship of the University of Minnesota System and Minnesota’s only land-grant university. The system also has campuses in Crookston, Duluth, Morris and Rochester, and is governed by a Board of Regents.
The university says the Twin Cities campus is one of five in the United States with engineering, medical, law, veterinary medicine and agricultural schools on one campus, and that it has 25,000 faculty and staff. Across its five campuses the system serves more than 68,000 students. Rebecca Cunningham became the 18th President of the University of Minnesota on 1 July 2024.
