SASTRA Deemed University is based at Tirumalaisamudram, Thanjavur, in Tamil Nadu. The institution says it began in 1984 and was conferred deemed-to-be-university status in 2001. Its website states that it is a Category I institution under the UGC Graded Autonomy Regulations, 2018.
The home page lists 12 schools, three campuses and more than 15,000 students. Besides the main Thanjavur campus, it runs the Srinivasa Ramanujan Centre at Kumbakonam, an off-campus centre, and its site also lists a Chennai campus. Programmes run from undergraduate to doctoral level in engineering, management, law, sciences, humanities and education. NAAC re-accredited the university in its fourth cycle with an A++ grade and a score of 3.76.
