Manipal Academy of Higher Education was founded in 1953 by Dr. T. M. A. Pai at Manipal, Karnataka, and describes itself as the first multidisciplinary, multi faculty private deemed to be university. Its World Wide Manipal page says it is an Institution of Eminence and accredited A++ by NAAC.
MAHE lists campuses at Manipal, Mangalore, Bengaluru, Jamshedpur and Dubai, and its constituent institutions include Kasturba Medical College, Manipal. The same page states more than 58,000 students from over 60 nationalities. For the Manipal entity ranked by NIRF, the institution’s NIRF 2025 data submission reported 18,906 undergraduate, 6,273 postgraduate and 3,186 PhD students for 2023-24.
