Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar was founded in 2008 and is located at Palaj, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, on the banks of the Sabarmati river. The institute says its campus was rated India’s first 5-star GRIHA LD (Green) campus and was the first in India to receive a 5-star Eat Right campus award from FSSAI.

IIT Gandhinagar offers undergraduate and graduate programmes in engineering and the sciences, with an emphasis on the liberal arts, humanities and social sciences, and runs interdisciplinary research centres. It says over 40% of its students take part in study abroad during their studies, and that its five-week Foundation Programme for new undergraduates received the World Education Award 2013.
