CHRIST (Deemed to be University) is headquartered in Bengaluru, Karnataka. It was established as Christ College in 1969; its first academic year began on 15 July 1969 with pre-university courses under Bangalore University. The UGC granted the college autonomy in 2004 and identified it as an Institution with Potential for Excellence in 2006. On 22 July 2008 the Ministry of Human Resource Development declared it a deemed to be university under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, under the name Christ University.
The university lists six campuses: Bangalore Central, Bangalore Bannerghatta Road, Bangalore Kengeri, Bangalore Yeshwanthpur, Delhi NCR and Pune Lavasa. It has schools including Architecture, Education and Law, and runs online degree programmes. Dr Fr Joseph C C is Vice Chancellor. Student numbers were not found on the pages read.
