Educational institutes in West Bengal to remain closed till November 30

Government plans to start classes in colleges and universities from 1st December.

TED NewsDesk, Kolkata: Amid Covid-19, the West Bengal government has said that the educational institutions will remain closed till November 30. All the campus activities will remain suspended. The state government announced on Monday. In a notification issued, the government has mentioned that “teaching-learning physical assemblies in schools (including Anganwadi centres), colleges and universities will continue to be disallowed”.

Will classes in universities restart from December 1? 

Besides, all cultural functions, religious gatherings, and other congregations may be allowed outside containment zones in open spaces, given that safety measures have adhered. Education Minister Partha Chatterjee told reporters on Monday that the government is planning to start classes in colleges and universities from December 1st. However, the final decision on whether lessons will be imparted offline is yet to be taken.

He also mentioned that any decision about resuming classes in schools would be taken by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee after Kali Puja, taking into consideration all safety factors and issues that stand out.
