Andhra Government Preparing to Bring More Than 30k Dropouts Back to School

TED NewsDesk, Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government is facing some alarming numbers in terms of students dropping out of school. The numbers based on the survey by Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan shows that there are  32,430 school dropouts out of which 17,442 are boys and 14,982 are girls across the district.

On March 22, 2021, the Andhra Pradesh government launched a special drive with Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan. The survey collected the details of children between the age group of 6-14 years who have dropped out of schools. This was a measure to not only understand the reasons behind children dropping out of schools but also an attempt to bring them back to school.

More than a thousand officials were engaged in this survey.  The officials include the Cluster Resource Persons, integrated education teachers, part-time instructors and Anganwadi workers. They conducted door-to-door surveys in the district. The whole process was monitored by Mandal education officers at the zonal level.

The students will be enrolled in the nearest government schools based on the financial and educational capabilities of parents. Special training centres will be opened to make the children stay and complete their education.

The details of the survey are available on the Mana Badiki Podam App designed by the education department. The survey is at its last stages and is getting delayed due to some technical issues.

Speaking to The New Indian Express,  DEO Ganga Bhavani said that special training sessions were held for CRPs, Anganwadi workers and part-time instructors but due to technical issues, uploading of data got delayed in some areas. “We already informed the higher authorities about the issue and steps are being taken to complete the survey at the earliest,” she added.
