Schaeffler India Signs MoU with TISS

Launches NUSSD Curriculum to Level-up Students’ Skills

Schaeffler India Signs MoU with TISS

TED NewsDesk, New Delhi: Schaeffler India, an industrial and automotive distributor, has collaborated with Tata Institute of Social Sciences to introduce a National University Students’ Skill Development (NUSSD) scheme. The course is likely to train 350 students for skill upliftment who are graduating from three colleges in Vadodara, Gujarat.

TISS and Schaeffler India have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which states the strategy and structure of the programme. Schaeffler India informed that the curriculum would start training in eight diploma courses. The courses offered to constitute banking and financial market, exports and imports management services, entrepreneurship, digital marketing, travel and tourism, pharma sales management, and retail management.

As per the report, the programme, whose sole sponsor is Schaeffler India, will provide classroom training to the nominated students. The three colleges in Vadodara will set-up Schaeffler HOPE NUSSD Training Centres where the students will get training for 4-6 months. As a result, trained students will visit significant industries for 40 days of on-the-job training or internships. The course is likely to provide paid jobs to 300 students while preparing the other 50 for start-ups and business expansion.

According to the release, the curriculum will impart a broader perspective on the candidates to discover and upgrade their career-oriented skills. Santanu Ghosal, Vice-president (human resources) at Schaeffler India, said the collaboration would empower students with necessary job skills.

“For Schaeffler, skilling is not only valuable but a viable and long-term plan. Programmes like these are in line with Schaeffler India’s CSR initiative ‘HOPE’,” added Mr Ghosh, who is also the Head (CSR) at Schaeffler India.

In 2013, TISS inaugurated a flagship scheme NUSSD for skilling people with diverse educational qualifications and to make college students well-equipped for employment purposes. The curriculum is in sequence with NUSSD.
