TED NewsDesk, New Delhi: Mr Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, Minister of Education, proposed establishing a committee to monitor the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) among primary, secondary and higher education. He recommended the formation of a review committee and an enactment group lead by Secretary of Higher Education to accelerate the execution of NEP.

The committee will supervise the execution of over 181 activities. It will prepare a dashboard with definite timelines and plans to review the developments of these NEP activities. Pokhriyal also added that the committee should maintain a monthly and weekly calendar, for the tasks to keep each stakeholder updated.

A meeting was held regarding the same in which the Minister highlighted the need for “shifting the focus from package culture to patent culture”. Considering the National Education Technology Forum (NETF) and National Research Foundation (NRF) as the significant inputs for the success of NEP, he directed to establish them in the year 2021-22. He urged the shareholders to build cooperation between the execution of NEP and other existing policies of the government.

Enabling connection between the industry and academia can lead to better results, per the Union Education Minister.
