TED NewsDesk, Pondicherry: The Students Council of Pondicherry University (PUSC) asked the University authorities to accelerate the method of sanctioning documents to final semester students. They raised their concern regarding the delay in their admissions to other institutions owing to the slow process of their existing varsity. The council highlighted that they got many complaints from candidates about the hindrances in receiving their transfer certificate, character certificate and other significant documents.

“This is to bring to your attention that we have received complaints about departments delaying the process of providing necessary documents to the final year students which they require to take admission. This is causing a great amount of stress to the students. Since many institutions have started the admission process, the students need to submit their Transfer Certificate, Character Certificate, Mark List, among other documents. Therefore, kindly take notice of this on an urgent basis, and instruct the department heads to speed up the process of providing students with required documents,” the PU Students’ Council wrote in a statement,” read the statement released by PUSC.

“For admission, you need certain documents, but the university hasn’t released any circular directing the departments to give out these certificates. We received numerous complaints from students. The students’ council had to get involved as the university hasn’t actively responded to the students’ queries or grievances regarding the issue. We have requested the administration to pace up the process,” said P Parichay Yadav, President, PUSC.

“Mostly, universities across the country have begun their admissions, for which we need our documents. I enquired about my certificates, and the PU administration told me that I need to be physically present to collect it, pay extra for the migration certificate or transfer certificate. But they were not sure when they are planning to provide us with the documents. I have applied for Jharkhand Central University; the interview is likely to happen by the end of this month. After the interview is done and I am selected, I would have to submit these documents in 15 days. It would become an issue, it is not that much of a hassle as our results are already out, they can at least give us a provisional certificate for now,” told Shyam Prakash, a student of Performing Arts at PU.

A student from PU named Pooja Bista posted a tweet on November 7 addressing the Vice-chancellor pleading him to look into the matter and smoothen the process of issuing documents. She further informed about her lost seat in Chandigarh Institute due to unavailability of transfer and character certificate on time.

The varsity is yet to respond to the issue. The problem needs an immediate solution to enable the students to grab opportunities for securing admission in good institutes.
