TED NewsDesk, Haryana: In the view of COVID-19 crisis, the government of Haryana plans to distribute free textbooks to Scheduled Caste students, enrolled in state-based colleges. An official informed about the state government’s decision on Wednesday.

In an official statement released on behalf of the Director-General of the Higher Education Department, Haryana government notified the principals of all government colleges to check and update the data of students belonging SC category. Based on these updated data, the Directorate will provide financial assistance to cater to educational purposes for the academic session 2020-21.

“Verification of a student’s SC class certificate, Haryana resident certificate, Aadhaar number should be done,” the spokesperson of the Higher Education Department said.

He said the students would receive money following the authentication of their details.

The release, quoting the spokesperson, mentioned January 29 as the last date to verify and update the inputs on ERP-portals. He added that the ERP-portal is capable of assisting colleges in developing a durable repository.
