TED NewsDesk, New Delhi: Education technology is an upcoming sector in India which is attracting a lot of clout from different companies. With the pandemic induced lockdown, most of the education moved to online platforms such as BYJU’S, Khan Academy and others. The newest contender in the edtech sector is Jeff Bezos’ Amazon Academy that seeks to help students study for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for admission in various engineering colleges in India.

The Amazon Academy was launched by Amazon India recently, and it plans to provide students with practice sets and other study material useful for preparation for JEE. According to a statement released by the company, the study material will consist of live lectures, comprehensive assessments in Maths, Physics and Chemistry.

According to Amol Guruwara, the Director of Education at Amazon India, “Amazon Academy aims to bring high quality, affordable education to all, starting with those preparing for engineering entrance examinations. Our mission is to help students achieve their outcomes while also empowering educators and content partners to reach millions of students.”

Guruwara added that this new venture will provide students state of the art study and preparation material which will make it easier for them to prepare for the entrance exam. It will offer preparatory courses and mock tests modelled after the JEE exam.

Apart from JEE, other exams like BITSAT, VITEEE, SRMJEEE, and MET exams will also find study material for their entrances. For now, all the contents in the Academy platform are free to use and download, said the statement released by Amazon India.

In addition to Amazon Academy, Amazon also runs several educational platforms like AWS Educate, that assists users in understanding the Amazon cloud platform Amazon Web Services. Another edtech venture of Amazon is Amazon Ignite, that helps connect educational content creators with its customers.
