TED NewsDesk, Odisha: After MHA issued guidelines for Unlock 5.0, various schools across the country are in a process to re-open from the next month. Meanwhile, the Odisha government decided to extend the lockdown on schools till November 30. However, the offline classes for 9th to 12th-grade students will begin from November 16, as the govt informed on Saturday.
“In pursuance of the revised guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India (GoI) vide Order dated September 30 to re-open more activities in areas outside Containment Zones and to extend the lockdown in Containment Zones up to October 31 for containment of COVID-19 and read with Order dated October 27, the State Government do hereby direct that guidelines shall be in force in the State of Odisha,” according to an order issued by the state.
“All academic institutions will remain closed till November 30, 2020. However, the classes of 9th and 12th standards in schools under the control/superintendence/ supervision of school and Mass Education Department will open from November 16, 2020, as per guidelines/SOP to be issued by School and Mass Education Department,” the Order further stated.
Following the Center’s direction, the state strictly ordered to continue the lockdown in the containment areas. International flights will remain cancelled till November 30. Some cases may be allowed after seeking permission from MHA.
Other activities including sports entertainment, social, academic, political, religious and cultural gathering will remain prohibited till November 30, 2020. Currently, there are 8.14 million cases of Coronavirus in India, whereas Odisha recorded 25,088 cases from October 16 to 29.
