Karnataka government to reopen schools in November: Dr Ashwathnarayan C.N.

TED NewsDesk, Karnataka: On Monday, the Deputy CM of Karnataka, Dr. Ashwathnarayan C.N., informed about the state government’s plan to reopen higher educational institutions from November. The colleges will restart only for graduation and post-graduation courses. The factors leading to the final decision will include the safety of teachers and pupils. Following the Center’s order to shut down the institutions owing to COVID-19, the state has stuck to the digital classroom mode so far.

“The government is preparing to start the offline graduate classes from November. Shortly a decision will be taken after discussing with Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and other officials concerned,” announced Narayan.

He informed that the reason behind the delayed decision regarding the reopening of colleges is the Coronavirus crisis’s instability. However, the government is likely to notify very soon, as per the Deputy CM. Besides, he also talked about the state’s preparation per the MHA’s SOPs to reopen schools and colleges.

“We have to ensure the safety of students and teachers. The virus is very much amidst us. Hence, we need to decide after much deliberation,” added the Deputy CM.

Narayan broke the news while addressing the press post, the Centenary Convocation of the University of Mysore.

“The task force constituted to recommend the implementation of NEP has already submitted its first report. The new education policy will be implemented in a phased manner by 2021 after making all the arrangements,” he said.

He also expressed his joys concerning the smooth working of the online teaching and learning process. Praising people’s unexpected acceptance towards online education, he recommended students to seek maximum help from these facilities. He also mentioned the state government’s plan to expose the students and educators to NEP 2020 in phases.

To mark the 100 years of Mysore University, the state-organized an event on Monday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi graced the event with his presence (via video conferencing). Other attendees included Karnataka’s Governor, MLAs, MLCs, and so on.
