ITBP Facilitates Learning in Naxal Violence Affected District

TED NewsDesk, Chattisgarh: Intending to spread knowledge and facilitate education for school-going children, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) men introduced a learning centre in Chattisgarh. The learning centre has internet tools and is in a district affected by Naxal violence, as informed by the officials on Sunday.

Situated in Hadeli village of Kondagaon district, a part of South Chattisgarh, the ‘smart’ school runs with 50 students. The army personnel will use YouTube videos and other online education websites to educate these children. Besides, they use animation movies and basic-learning videos amid the classes. The army personnel are graduates with complete training to hold school education classes.

As per a senior ITBP officer, the government nominates the force personnel to conduct the evening sessions.

“These classes are organised daily by using internet-enabled phones of the jawans. As the mobile signal is weak, jawans put their mobiles at a height through bamboo poles and the network is connected through WiFi hotspot facility to the laptop,” a senior ITBP officer said.

“The screen is enlarged on a wall for the children through a projector,” the officer added.

The distance between Raipur and the headquarters of Kondagaon district is 210 km. The officer said that these men train themselves in local Halbi dialect, with the help of students.

The district has troops of the 41st ITBP battalion as a constituent of anti-Maoist operations team. The government formed the ITBP in 1962 in the consequences of Chinese aggression. As a result, it guards the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China.
