MSc in Guest Experience and Luxury Management. Switzerland’s Glion Institute of Higher Education I made a tremendous leap of faith and decided to pursue the MSc during the Covid epidemic when the globe was beginning to recover from the catastrophe. My enthusiasm and expectations were met by the course.
As a tourist, my family and I travelled to Switzerland, where I fell in love with the country’s natural beauty and kind inhabitants. Other than Switzerland, I had the choice of a few institutions in the United States, but I decided to study abroad because I had close family who still lives in the United States and because I wanted to be independent there.
Selecting the appropriate institution
I planned to seek a specialisation in the luxury business since I had a background in marketing and management and wanted to work in this immersed industry. Glion was the top name listed everywhere when I looked for the greatest luxury management institutes on the planet.
This was the key factor in my decision to pursue my master’s degree at Glion. The picturesque setting, the multicultural environment, and the worldwide exposure, in addition to the institute’s reputation as a byword for distinction in the hotel and luxury industries, all greatly supported my decision to choose it.
A welcoming admissions process for students
selecting a reputable institution When it came to choosing, the academic structure and curriculum were always of the highest significance to me. I planned to pursue a luxury business specialisation to enter this immersed industry because of my background in marketing and management.
Glion was the first name listed everywhere when I looked for the greatest institutes for luxury management in the world. The fact that this school also gave me instruction for “guest experience” stood out as a bonus. My decision to pursue my master’s degree at Glion was mostly motivated by this.
Additionally, Glion’s professors, facilities, student-friendly admissions procedure, and inclusive environment all contributed to my decision. The picturesque setting, the multicultural environment, and the worldwide exposure, in addition to the institute’s reputation as a byword for distinction in the hotel and luxury industries, all greatly supported my decision to choose it.
Personal knowledge
One learns how to build a brand value for luxury goods and services in luxury management, as well as how to use luxury marketing to convey that value. This program gives us the long-term creativity, knowledge, and skill we need to grasp the unique market attractiveness of a certain good or service. Customers typically choose to purchase experiences over products or services.
The Glion academic course structure is comprehensive and modern, and it properly complies with industrial norms. My master’s program was mostly separated into five categories: luxury experience and innovation, marketing and brand management, luxury business environments, and strategies and business models.
Business trends in five-star hotels, resorts, and events were covered in class, as well as luxury fashion design, intercultural leadership, digital transformation and data analytics, sustainable luxury and design, digital marketing for the luxury market, strategic management of luxury brands, and retail management.
A business excursion to Paris and a self-organized luxury event by our group supported the theoretical lessons we learned. This was perfect for gaining broad personal knowledge of the worlds of fine arts, hospitality, and luxury shopping, to mention a few.
The business field trip was exceptional because it enabled us to apply what we had learned in class. From a scholarly perspective, it gave me a lively picture of the luxury market. It encouraged greater initiative toward what life has to offer me and assisted in my career and personal growth.
More than merely academic proficiency
It has been a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me to study in Switzerland. Every minute I have had while studying is supported by the Glion Spirit. The most priceless part of my journey for me was the experience of being welcomed and valued in a multicultural environment and making lifetime friendships.
The town of Glion is situated in Montreux, which is widely recognized as a retirement community. As a result, there are many Indian students at the institution but not many Indians around the city. As a consequence, I occasionally get the opportunity to contact members of my community, which gives me comfort when I need it.
Indian students studying abroad, studying in Switzerland Siddhi and several of her college pals. The fact that I communicate mostly with locals, nevertheless, is what I consider to be my largest benefit in this place.
By interacting with locals, I can avoid being too comfortable. It encourages me to stretch my comfort zone and allows me access to learning more about the local way of life—including its food, customs, and culture—as well as teaching me things that I otherwise never would have discovered back in India. When I first came to this country, the university put me in housing, and the staff on campus helped us settle in.
Studying abroad is a learning experience.
I experienced experiences as an overseas student that I did not have in India. Students who study abroad typically have the opportunity to learn more than simply academic material. It is an intellectual experience that incorporates cross-cultural variety, travel, and opportunities for professional progress.
The study abroad experience is more beneficial and important because of the mixed experiences that lead to fresher viewpoints. Planning is, in my opinion, the best way to tackle the costs of living abroad when it comes to keeping spending in check.
I decided against working a part-time job because I wanted to devote my time to potential chances at school. I served as my batch’s class delegate, was a member of the Master Committee, and was a Glion Ambassador. I have several opportunities to represent the college thanks to the Ambassador program.
Future hopefuls should do their research, make a strategy, and take advantage of any opportunities that may arise.
It is crucial to conduct a comprehensive investigation of the school and the course offerings. Having a backup strategy is crucial, along with early planning.
It is undeniable that studying abroad is a transformative experience, and one should take advantage of any opportunities that present themselves to realize their full potential. Don’t stray from your comfort zone, even while studying abroad.
This is a crucial reminder. Find your hobbies and don’t hesitate to take advantage of possibilities. Be passionate, committed, and motivated.
