Five more states to reopen educational institutes from today

Chhattisgarh, Sikkim, UP, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Karnataka to reopen educational institutes.

With the spread of covid-19 pandemic slowing down, 5 more states have decided to reopen schools and colleges.

Schools will be reopening in Chhattisgarh and Sikkim from today and colleges in UP, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Karnataka are reopening from today.

The schools and colleges in India were shut down in March 2020 due to the rapid spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country and the nationwide lockdown imposed by the central government for the safety of the citizens. But since the start of February several educational institutes have been reopened.

In Uttar Pradesh the government has decided to reopen state, private universities, degree colleges and other institutes of higher education. The government of Sikkim is reopening the schools for students in primary and pre-primary classes from today after nearly 11 months of online classes.

In Chhattisgarh, schools are reopening for classes 9, 10 and 12. Colleges and universities in Chhattisgarh are also resuming physical classes from today.

The Maharashtra government has decided to reopen colleges with 50% strength. Attendance in colleges is not mandatory for now and the 75 percent attendance criteria have also been waived off for the time being. However, according to reports, colleges in Thane, Mumbai, and Navi Mumbai will not reopen today.

The government of Karnataka has decided to reopen the colleges for all undergraduate, postgraduate, and engineering courses from today. Additionally, resumption of physical classes, students’ hostels and bus services in Karnataka will also start from today.

All states will follow the safety guidelines issued by central government for reopening of these institutes.
