Bihar: Teachers Demand Salary Before Durga Puja

TED NewsDesk, Bihar: Teachers working in Urban civic bodies (Municipal institutions) and Panchayati Raj based educational institutions demand their salaries from the government before Durga Puja. The Puja will begin on Saturday.

Parivartankari Prarambhik Shikshak Sangh (PPSS) of Bihar wrote an application to the Secretary-General of the Education Department. In its plea, the Federation requested to release the wages of employed teachers of the state before the festival of Durga Puja.

The Coordinator of official affairs at PPSS, Mr Navneet Kumar and Shishir Kumar, General Secretary (Organisation), Bihar, said that the allotment’s irregularity is the reason for the delayed payment.

The application stated that these contract-based educators from urban and local areas are ready to go on a strike if they do not get their salary within the due date.

The government should look into the matter and provide some necessary solutions to it. It should issue the entire amount to ensure that these educators receive their wages, as it is the need of the hour.

On August 29 this year, the state education department notified about the increment in librarians and teachers’ salaries through an official notice. It announced a hike of 15 per cent in the basic salary structure payable from April 2021. The proposal facilitated some benefits for the ‘Niyojit’ school teachers.
