Admin reshuffle in Jammu and Kashmir: Samoon shifted from Education

BK Singh appointed as Administrative Secretary, School Education Department

TEDNewsDesk, Srinagar: The government of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday reshuffled its administration by shifting nine bureaucrats. This reshuffle has made a lot of changes to the fields of education, urban planning and ecology, among others.

As per the order, here is a quick list of appointments in this reshuffle: 

  1. Asgar Hassan Samoon (IAS) removed as Principal Secretary to the Government, School Education Department and posted as the new Principal Secretary to the Government for its Skill Development Department.
  2. B.K. Singh (IFS), from the Department of Forest, Ecology and Environment, has been posted as Administrative Secretary, School Education Department.
  3. Abdul Majid Bhat, Chairman, J&K Special Tribunal transferred and posted as Administrative Secretary, ARI and Trainings Department.
  4. Sarita Chauhan (IAS), Commissioner/ Secretary to the Government, Department of Forest, Ecology and Environment, will additionally be Chairman, J&K Special Tribunal. 
  5. Rukhsana Gani (KAS), Administrative Secretary, Hospitality and Protocol Department, has the additional charge of Administrative Secretary, Civil Aviation Department. 
  6. Mohammad Rafi (KAS), Director, Panchayati Raj, J&K, holding additional charge of Chief Executive Officer, Integrated Watershed Management Programme, transferred and posted as Director, Libraries, J&K. 

The order for an administrative reshuffle, issued by the General Administration Department (GAD), said that the 1993-batch IAS officer Asgar Hassan Samoon has now assumed the post of Principal Secretary to the Government, Skill Development Department. Samoon was Principal Secretary to the Government, School Education Department and held additional charge of Principal Secretary to the Government, Skill Development Department, 

B.K. Singh (IFS), awaiting orders of adjustment in the Department of Forest, Ecology and Environment, has been posted as Administrative Secretary, School Education Department. Abdul Majid Bhat, Chairman, J&K Special Tribunal, has also been transferred and posted as Administrative Secretary, ARI and Trainings Department. His transfer relieved Ms Rukhsana Gani, KAS, Administrative Secretary, Hospitality and Protocol Department of the additional charge of the post. Sarita Chauhan (IAS), Commissioner/ Secretary to the Government, Department of Forest, Ecology and Environment, will thus hold the position of Chairman, J&K Special Tribunal, in addition to her duties, until further orders are issued.

“Rukhsana Gani (KAS), Administrative Secretary, Hospitality and Protocol Department, shall hold the additional charge of Administrative Secretary, Civil Aviation Department, relieving M. Raju (IAS), Secretary to the Government, Jal Shakti Department of the additional charge of the post,” the order reads. It further mentions Sheikh Arshad Ayub (KAS), Director, Libraries, J&K, is transferred and posted as Special Secretary to the Government, Housing and Urban Development Department.

Mohammad Rafi (KAS), Director, Panchayati Raj, J&K, holding additional charge of Chief Executive Officer, Integrated Watershed Management Programme, has been transferred and posted as Director, Libraries, J&K, the order says. “He shall continue to hold the charge of Chief Executive Officer, Integrated Watershed Management Programme, in addition to his duties, till further orders” it adds.
